hi matt! i read your reply on the link you posted, I can't see any audio manager on my windows audio control, under the playback tab theres the "speakers high definition audio device not plug in" and also the "headphones high definition audio device not plug in" and finally the "digital output device (spdif) high definition audio device working" and has a check mark, I tried to uninstall it and install the latest version on the realtek site. but still the same result. this is actually my second update for audio device. any other idea about it? thanks.

    Hi back at you:)
Click/highlight the Speakers listing and use the button "Set Default ". [I expect you have a standard speaker system.]

I've just switched to xp again after a week of speechless vista, anyway, I cant set it as default because its not an option (I don't know how word it) the "set as default" button is not active so I can't select it. now I'm on xp my sound is working perfectly, I'm planning to install vista again, hope 64bit will work for me, my previous vista was 32bit.thank you so much Mattman I appreciate your advise.

jsctolitz hi, after you installed Vista did you install the audio drivers from the motherboard CD and enable it in the BIOS.
I just recently installed Vista 32 bit installed the audio drivers from MSI (my mobo) and my sound is working fine I have USB Speakers.
I don't think installing Vista 64 bit is going to make any difference to your sound problem.

hello to all! I finally solve this problem of mine, Im on vista again but this time on x64, the front panel audio is not working and I don't know how to make it work, I used the rear panel and its working now, the only problem vista x64 is that the limited compatibility(??) of the programs, I'm trying to look for a good anti virus that is compatible with x64 os,. I am now enjoying vista, very challenging and beautiful!

Thank you mattman! thank you Hawk22!
