    my internet conn dropped just recently.been running fine for a long time.is connected to linksys wrt54g wirelss router.the ip changed and ipconfig release ,renew wont do the trick.this comp is xp.I shut that one down and connectd the vaio vista comp to it an no problem ,all the other wirelss macs that the kids use run fine.doing the torrent thing so the ip is static.tried repair in network conn and that didn't work.saw someone with this problem but he closed it out successfully fixing it but didnt say how.thanks for any help

    can't dl any fix I have no connection at all yet it says connected

    If you go to Control Panel > Network Connections & right-click on your connection, select Properties, double click Internet Protocol (TCP/IP), what do you see on the General tab?

    it says use the following ip192.168.1.1
    subnet mask 255.255 (cant read my writing on the last digits0
    use following dns server 24.225.193.1110
    no alt dns checked
    thanks
    now it says ip conflict with 2 computers on htis system

    You have made a manual IP configuration to this PC, that's why you get the error "no adapter in this state permissible ". Check "Obtain an IP address automatically" instead.

    I did this and it works.I thought I needed a static to use bittorrent for some reason.appreciate the insight and help.it was working all along like this wonder why it suddenly happened.anyway thanks very much
