This may have something to do with my icons changing as I mentioned in an earlier post.

Anyway, I ran Norton antivirus yesterday and then scanned my computer with housecall. Following that, my NIS got corrupted. I uninstalled NIS and then reinstalled it, being careful to delete all the temp files as I did so.

My internet connection didn't work. So, I uninstalled NIS again and still my internet does not work.

I also deleted auditmode from the registry at HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion as suggested on the Symantec website.

Anybody have a clue as to what could be shutting down my internet connection? It is almost as if a firewall is still in place.

Although this thread was moved because of the Norton thing, perhaps it should be retitled and moved back to Me because the solution is found in Me--

but anyway, it turns out the the guys at Symantec tell my my TCP/IP protocols got disrupted--so I went into networks and reinstalled them. It worked. I'm not sure why NIS corrupted them or how, but the response from Symantec came very fast so it can't be a completely unheard of problem.
