I used to run Windows 98SE with Nikon View 6.1 quite happily, but I've now upgraded my OS to Windows XP SP2 and the Nikon View to 6.2.3 as recommended. However, NkvBrows.exe refuses to start. It gets as far as displaying the skeleton of the window but then gives up the ghost. I can transfer pictures OK and view them with Microsoft Photo Editor... Have I missed anything?

This is from the download page for Nikon View 6.2.3.

An error which prevents the image from opening in Nikon Editor or Nikon Capture Editor has been discovered when using Nikon View 6.2.x and Nikon Capture versions 4.0.x or 3.5.2 or earlier. To prevent this error, update to the latest versions of Nikon View and Nikon Capture or do not:
Use the "Rotate image(s)" option selected in the Transfer panel of the Transfer Options dialog (this function applies only when supporting cameras are connected).
Rotate RAW or NEF-format images with the Nikon Browser.

    Hmm Thanks Russ
I did upd  ate to Nikon View 6.2.3 which they say is the latest, and I don't use Nikon Capture at all. The error persists. I can get Nikon Editor to work on an individual image, but Nikon Browser just doesn't want to know...

I finally got the answer to this hidden away in Nikon's FAQs. I needed to completly remove the old Nikon View 6.1 using the utility RegSweeper.exe which is on the CD supplid with Nikon View 6.1
I'm just a little surprised they couldn't have told me that earlier when I first asked them the question, rather than have me spend a week or more sweating.
