NHS services across England and Scotland have been hit by a large-scale cyber-attack that has disrupted hospital and GP appointments.

The prime minister said the incident was part of an untargeted wider attack affecting organisations globally.

Some hospitals and GPs have been unable to access patient data, after their computers were locked by a ransomware program demanding a payment worth £230.

But there is no evidence patient data has been compromised, NHS Digital said.

It appears after all the panic - that W10 users with AUTO update settings have nothing to fear. :) Any earlier MS OS if not on auto update may be a victim if opening unknown email links. It Pays to use W10 and live in a different Time Zone from what I have read about this. ;)

Any current supported OS is already quite secure if kept updated.

If the user is then just a bit educated and never opens attachments or clicks on links in email without knowing what he/she is doing, you should be pretty safe...

The user is normally the weakest link in the chain & no matter how strong the rest of the chain is, it's going to break.
