Does anyone know of a good newsreader (for reading what used to be called Usenet newsgroups) that will work with a secure news server using SSL? I know I can read Google Groups on the web, and I can also more or less read them with Netscape. In both cases, though, I find the interface clunky and awkward. I thought it would be good to find a dedicated news reader, and Agent got good online reviews. I installed Agent to try it out, but I found that it doesn't work with SSL. It requires a proxy server and recommends something called Stunnel. I went to the Stunnel web site and got an immediate headache. Arrgh. Talk about tech speak! Thanks but no thanks.

Does anyone know of a dedicated news reader with built-in SSL?

    TIA.

No, but you might find this explanation of Stunnel a tad less daunting.

Wow, what a difference! Thanks VERY much. I might even be able to give Stunnel a try thanks to this page. Frankly, I think I'd still prefer to find a news reader that can handle SSL without a proxy server, just as Netscape does. If I can't find one, though, this page should make Stunnel possible.
