    Hi Everyone,

New to forum found the site while looking for advice on Slipstreaming and didn't notice this bit until much later. I'm a 54 year old working in the Aerospace industry dealing with imports and exports.

Been messing with Windows for some 14 years now from 3.11 through to Vista together with other Windows applications and programs.

Although not an IT professional I occasionally get called upon at work to help out within our IT department and cover voluntary problem solving within my immediate area and the shop floor. We use XP Pro at work and I use XP Pro on my desktop and Vista on my Laptop, I'm not really a fan of Vista (too much flashand bulk) but the laptop came with it installed:(

I also dabble with Open Source software:eek: and regard MS as the darkside of operating systems and applications:cool:

A frequent visitor to The Register but not a gaming fan.

    Regards
    Nev

    Welcome to Windows BBS!

My computing experience started with Win 3.1 :), and no, I do not regard MS as the dark side.

Yes, I do run both RHEL & Ubuntu. Vista x86 on my desktop, Vista x64 on my laptop (triple boot with XP & Ubuntu).

Managed to get my son who works for the Cheshire Council, IT dept to see the light and move over to Ubuntu. Nothing wrong with MS OS's, just a bit bloated with features I personally don't need, however, I have to cope with XP Pro at work and most of the future for the company looks like MS so I just get on with it.

I mainly run Photoshop CS3 on my laptop so I turned of all the unnecessary flashy Vista bits off - makes the system run fast too;)

    Thanks for the welcome

    Nev
