I sent my brother a copy of XP corporate prof. and now he's having problems with AIM. When he tries to install it, he gets up to the part where it asks you the country you reside in and your zip code, blah blah blah. But after he puts in all the information, it won't let him go any further--the "next" option is grayed out. I had him go into program files, and an aim folder was there--so I had him click on aim and he got an error. it was something about MSVCR71.dll being missing or corrupt or something like that--so I sent him a link to download the dll and he saved it in system files. Then he tried to install aim again, and he still had the same problem (but he doesn't get an error about MSVCR71.dll when he clicks on the aim icon because the folder isn't there anymore). Could someone help me to help him? Other possibly relevant info: He selected the option to install over his previous version of Windows, which was ME. So I assumed the old computer files would be gone, but he said there are old folders there, like limewire and other **** that he hasn't downloaded since the install--so I guess his old files are still there?? I know this post was kind of convoluted--sorry about that.

Makes sense but perhaps your post should be in "Other Software "....let's go there.

Could this be the key to the problem ?

Namely these two words corporate prof.

    And then this.

I have heard ( word of mouth only ) from friends that XP does not upgrade ME very well.
