I'm not familiar with slave drivers and wonder why I would need it anyway.
My new XP has 80 GB and my slave was 8 years old and is just 5.99GB (only 2/3 used even after all those years as I kept it cleaned up)

Windows 98 is really not a viable operating system anymore and if it was removed what would happen to the slave..........I mean would it become useless? Should I care?

It would seem that the cleaner and less registries, etc would be better.
Are the slave registries in a different place to the new XP registry?

    Thank you for ideas.

    Remove it.
First, take it out of the comp completely and then boot. If all OK then shutdown, put it back in, boot and delete all the files on it and use it for backups of your xp files.

    Hi Tom,

could you be a bit more specific please. I'm not a expert.

How do you delete slave and then reboot it, put it back, etc.
Would you mind posting the steps.

One thing that I have in there that I would like to save is my "old" Netscape Mozilla profiles as I am trying to figure out which browser/mail program to load into XP. I would like to be able to save my emails/bookmarks from the 5 profiles in this folder/file which was set up under Windows 98SE.

I like simplicity and someone suggested Sea Monkey and others are saying Thunderbird and Firefox are better.....I don't know how to or if they are integrated.

    Thanks
    Gloria

If you're not dual booting (or if you don't know what I mean by that), just start Control Panel by:
Start > Run > Control Panel
Then dbl-clk Administrative tools, then Computer Management, and then Disk Management (near bootom on left pane). You will see both disks on the right.
Right-click the d: drive and choose disable in Device usage at the bottom.
Then close and restart for the test. If all is well, go back and enable the drive and (from the Rt-clk menu) remove it's partition and remake the partition and then format the drive (all from the menus after highlighting the drive by clicking on it for each step (danger - if you click or apply a step to the wrong drive!!!).
