    hello
I recently bought a new HP laptop and it is running windows 8. I am navigating my way around and slowly learning.
I have a couple of problems though that I cannot resolve. Can anyone help?
    1. mail program: I use Hotmail and i can access Hotmail through the start menu. but I have many folders in my Hotmail with many saved messages. I cannot access them on my laptop. what comes up is "no messages for last 2 weeks. "
If I open Hotmail through my browser, all the messages in the folders are there but they don't show up in the mail program on the computer. How can I resolve this?

    2. JAVA... tried to install it.. cannot. what can i do? when I click on install, windows asks me if I want to allow java to access computer. then nothing happens.

    3. adobe flash player..also tried to install this. click on downloaded install program and nothing happens.

    any responses gratefully appreciated.

Windows RT does not support running, emulating, or porting existing x86/64 desktop apps. It is a version of the Windows 8 operating system for ARM-based devices such as tablets, Microsoft Surface, etc.

Unlike other versions of Windows, Windows RT will only be able to run software that has been certified by Microsoft and placed in the Microsoft Windows Store. It will be able to run "RT" versions of applications such as Microsoft Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and OneNote 2013 RT.

Microsoft only sells Windows RT to manufacturers and not as a stand-alone product to consumers.

Yes, and that's why I asked for clarification which version he has. I don't know what OS HP is supplying.

    thanks for the help
    I think I m running Windows 8 nor RT.
I have resolved the mail issue by simply dl windows live mail 2012 and using that insted of the windows 8 mail . windows 8 mail won't support my other email which uses a pop 2 server either so its back to windows live.
    thanks for all the responses.

Yes, if you installed WLM you are running the x86 Windows 8.
