    Hi there,

I have upgraded to XP pro and am very new to it. I am about to install OFFICE 2000 on to my new laptop and want to know the best way to do it. With older versions of windows I have always Ctrl Alt Deleted and removed all the background running programs except explorer and sys´tray.

In XP pro it seems to be different and there are a lot more programs running in the background under the processes tab

What do I need to do to get a clean install of new software?

    Many thanks
    CP

Everything should install just fine w/o stopping any processes. I install software all the time with my XP system, and I haven't had to kill off processes yet. Some programs require AV be disabled, but that's no big deal usually.
