    Reading WYOBISON's post about
I was wondering about the "tricks" described in it, specifically the "30 second trick" and wondering if there were others that might help me.

My boss has a laptop (I'll post specs when I get home) which developed no-startup-itis" about two years ago. I had started to look at the box to see why it wouldn't start up past the sign-up screen, when he went and got a new one and just decided he didn't want to "mess" with this one any more, so it got put in a corner and abandoned.

I found it last month and decided to try to revive it, but when I put the power adapter in I got absolutely nothing... no lights, no camera, no action, not nohow.

I figured that the adaptor was bad, since the last time I messed with it it DID try to start up, so went and bought a new adapter and tried that, but no joy. I had figured that that was that, but now I start seeing new ideas like the "30 second" thing, so I'm looking for other ideas that might do the trick.

More info on make and model to come, but I think it's a Presario.

"Tricks" like those should be listed in the troubleshooting section of the manual/User Guide. HP/Compaq have a very extensive support website, you will need to look up the model's webpage.

See if it can run without the battery connected.

Will try that and look for the manual.

Sorry about not following up last nite but two flat tyres and a belligerent tow-truck driver took up most of the time!
