This seems so basic but not sure what to do next. Win 7. Downloaded and installed (with Malwarebytes and Windows Firewall off) an update tool from Mazda to update my car's navigation. When I try to run it, I get "error 104 cannot connect to the internet" right away.

I called Mazda and they said "whaa?" and I checked online and no one else seems to have had this issue. Any suggestions? Thanks,

    Larry

Wonder if it no longer supports Win 7? Just guessing here. Have you updated it before?

    Hi Bill!!

That was my first thought, too. First time download/install (first Mazda, too) and it does say that Win7 is ok. Oh, I have not had that error message before. It was a Mazda error message, not Windows, btw. Thanks!

I have seen sights that don't like a certain browser. What browser are you using?

Did you Google the Error message and see the many hits?

I am using Chrome. I Googled ""Mazda Update Tool" error 104" and got nothing.

Since turning them off didn't fix the problem, turn them back on before your system is compromised.

I would try a different computer and different browser.

Bill, security was turned back on immediately. Thanks!

Steve, not sure what you mean but here is a pic of the error window. Thanks!

On Monday, I will try this app on my work computer (Win10, still Chrome) and report back.

Like said before, try a different browser and see if that does it.

Hi LarryB, just a silly thought, but can you access Mazda website in your Country?
I use Mozilla FF and I couldn't access Mazda.com but could access Mazda.co.nz
You may then be able to use their Support area to seek your Navigation system update.

Hi Bill, this is an app, not a browser site, so I'm not clear on the browser-change benefit. Nevertheless, I used Revo to uninstall the Chrome-downloaded app and re-downloaded using IE and re-installed. Same result. Hopefully, that is what you intended.

Hi RL- Mazda seems to insist that the updates be done only via the app and the app is only available on a navigation-specific website (https://mazda.welcome.naviextras.com/how-to-update.php?region=na). NA being North America. I changed the region to Europe and downloaded/installed again with same result.

I hope I am "getting" the gist all of your great suggestions correctly. Thanks for your input!!

Use IE instead of Chrome to get to the site.

Larry, that URL just opened immediately to Mazda Update Toolbox no problems.
Have you tried running sfc /scannow to make sure you haven't any errors in your Files?

    Bill, I did use IE.

RL, opening the page is not an issue, along with downloading the app (at the bottom of the test) and installing it. The issue is running it without getting that error. I am running sfc now. Will take a while. I will report back later.

    Thanks!!

SFC did say that some corrupt files were found but could not fix all of them and referred me to a long log file. Same result in safe mode.

Sounds like you may need to do a "Refresh" of your OS.

P.S. Just remembered your on W7. Oops!

The app did work on my work computer. Any constructive suggestions on the sfc findings?

Win 10. The website states Win 7 is OK but? This app is from a third party vendor. I wonder if I could track them down and ask them since Mazda is clueless.
