Beware--this application changes your network configurations and claims it does not....!

I have a computer with an application called New.Net which they claim is a plug-in, however, after removing it according to their instructions, it changed the network configuration. During removal, it did state it changed the network settings!! IE DOES NOT WORK. All internal network shares and printing are fine. I then emailed "support@..." and the email came back undeliverable!!

It is not spyware according to SpyBot S&D and SpySweeper. It is not a virus according to Norton and McAfee. I do not know where the plug-ins are located in IE or Netscape in order to remove them.

I've found an article by Microsoft. It did not help. Still cannot "surf" internet.

Please help..... I've had to format a previous pc due to this problem last week.....;(

New.net usually breaks the Winsock stack. Running WinsockFix (<<< direct download) will usually repair it and get you back online. Would be good to post a HijackThis log too.

    Hi Newt!!

It's been awhile and I've been trying to get back into the swing since the Hurricanes. As always, miss a day, play catch-up. The pc is not connected to the network at this time, just so that we could install a pci card that collects data. Turns out we have to connect to network to pull down the driver for that card. I'm in the middle of other "disasters" such as fried motherboards due to users not disconnecting power cords and modem cables. Several pc's went down from Frances "and" Jeanne...;( I've downloaded the file and have every intention to give it a try. I will post back.....;)

Ouch. You folks did have a horrible late summer down there. Son & Family in Orlando are still repairing damage too.

Just didn't want to drop you with an issue still open but no rush - we'll be here when you are ready.
