Bought a HP A1612N had bad memory slots max 1 gig. System was Win XP Media Center 2005 I have recovery Disks. Changed MB now starts asks to go to MS for verification of MS software. Can not get Recovery on HD dir I386 or Recovery disks to work. On case is Key but no COA.
How can I get the system back as I can't sign in to programs I have full Admin rights.
Or should I just install retail Win XP Home on another HD and forget about the HP system.
    Thank you

When the motherboard is changed it is necessary to make a Repair install of XP so that the new hardware is recognised. That's fine if you have a retail CD ......

How to replace the motherboard on a computer that is running Windows Server 2003, Windows XP, or Windows 2000

I guess your Recovery CD's are OEM and tied into the original motherboard and you have replaced it with a different one. From the above article .....
A fresh install of XP would seem to be the answer, bearing in mind that only a single installation may be made from a specific CD. If that CD is installed on a computer already you will be unable to activate further installs on other computers.

    However ....
    This may be appropriate .....

Thank you. I will go to XP and not worry about the MS Media. I don't need it.
Again my thanks this solved the problem.
