Just installed a Biostar P4M900-M7 board and I use a HP LJIII on the parallel port. Twice now within a week the icon of the printer has been greyed out and wont print. I have to delete the printer and the drivers and reinstall to have use of it again. It now seems that whenever the computer is turned off the printer is shown as "offline" upon reboot. I've also tried SPP, ECP-EPP and EPP emulations with the same outcome. Nothing on Biostar's KB. Any thoughts as to why this is happening?

    Running XP Pro SP2
    Intel processor
    3 Gb RAM

Try booting into Safe Mode and uninstalling the software and drivers there. Check if there is any old software and drivers for other printers.

Win XP has a set of standard drivers for the LaserJet III. Run the Add Printer wizard and uncheck the box "Seach for Plug and Play printers ". It will show the list of printers. Choose the HP LaserJet III [you could try letting it search your drivers CD (HP driver files) by using the Have Disk... button]. I find the standard drivers are quite good, they may not tell you things like how much toner is left though.
