Will take some getting used to, while viewing a topic with several posts, the empty space to the left. Any way to make the forum tree list float with the viewable area?

Although I haven't been here that long, I must say I prefer the old layout. Like TeMerc and noahdfear I think the side columns leave too much space empty on the left side.

Yes, there seems to be much more scrolling.

On the Discussions forum links, Under operating systems, Vista is the only one that works. The rest have no numbers after f=.

I would like a hide button on all sidebars left and right and also a way to get rid of the news posts at the bottom.

I definitely don't like it. I hoped it would be as it used to be when I clicked to view my unread posts but no such luck. Please, undo the change!

When you click to see unread posts it looks exactly as it used to.

I too, do not care for the new layout, although I guess I could live with it if there is some way of sorting the unread posts by forum order instead of date and time. I prefer to read only certain forums that interest me and find it a nusance to scroll through the complete list of unread forums just to read the ones I want. Not too bad if there are only 20 or 30 unread posts but can be a chore if there are hundreds.

Yes but when I click a post to read it, the "new look" is there again.

Have to agree with the comment on the wasted space to the left of the posts in a thread. Is it not possible to put the forum list across the top of the page.

Agreeing with the sentiments found in the other posts, I'll cast another vote in favor of the old format.

Could the Forum Jump window/box be moved from the bottom of the page up to the top?

No offense to the women out there but we probably sound like a bunch of old ladies. Set in our ways and resistant to change. Call me Gertrude, but I'm certainly in agreement - the newer format is just too "busy" with that forum bar taking up all the space in the left hand column. I miss the old start page too!

My preference calls for simplicity - something thats both easy to scan quickly or if one wants - study for a while. There are a lot of forums (subjects) that I don't visit on a regular basis. Maybe I should spend more time in some of them, but the truth is, I don't. So, this list of unread posts becomes an inconvenience that I'm only too happy to click out of.

By my thinking, the forum menu cold be moved from the far left column to a drop down up in the title bar to the left of Thread Tools and before Search Threads and Display Modes. And, just to kick that old nag when she's down - I miss the old start page.

I like what you are working towards Arie but I'm just an old Hag when it comes to my preferences.

    ;)

I'll throw my 2 cents in and agree with the other replies here. I also liked the old format. The new seems a bit crunched for my liking. Will it keep me away? Never. I'll adjust if it stays this way. Just my preference.

Well, this NOT SO OLD crabby lady thinks the new layout looks just fine. :p I like the tree on the left. Makes for less scrolling for me as I keep my screen size rather large for these old eyes to see better with, my dear. Ooops. lol. The old way I had to scroll too much. So. Chin up, boys. Deal with it! LOL.

    Good job, Arie!

    :)

I'll keep tweaking it, & continue monitoring usage patterns.

I think the new layout works much better for (new) users that come in on a thread-page from a web search. Over 50% of visitors comes to our forums that way, with another 30% from a link on an other web site, which usually also links to an 'internal' page.

    I like it but......

I would like the forums list to float as I scroll down. Otherwise I like the new look.

I would like that too, but I doubt it's possible. Maybe I can do it for Contributing members, but for normal members it won't work.
