New laptop

    Hi folks, I'm hoping this is the right forum for this question. A friend of mine has purchased a new laptop and would like me to transfer some stuff from her old computer to her new one. Please forgive my ignorance on this one but I know that there is a cable or something that you can connect the two computer and transfer stuff. Could someone please direct me to a site that has instructions on how to do this.

    OK, now I know how dumb I am. If I'd given this any thought I would have remembered that we ordered an external hard drive for her along with the laptop. I'll just hook up the hard drive to the old computer and go from there. Sorry to have bothered you.

    Cross Over Cable - Computer to Computer
    Straight Through - Computer to Router
