new Hdd

    Hi All, i just picked up a new wd 80gb hdd and winxp only sees 74.6gb. is there anyway to fix this?

    Thats normal. I can't find my notes, but generally speaking HDD makers count a gig as 1.064meg a bytes and windows counts it at 1.000 . I'm probably way off on the numbers, but you get the idea.

    My internal WD 80gig is seen as 74.5
    My external Max 80gig is seen as 76.3

    Plus some space is taken up when formatting with the file system, etc
