    Hi all:

I posted this in the last forum but it was lost. My printer is in, paid for, working, recognized, etc, etc. But when I turn it on the new hardware found wizard appears and wants me to install what is already installed. There is a box to check if you don't want to see this wizard again and checking does no good. Has any one else had this problem? What to do?

    Thanks: Dennis

In past Windows versions, I used to follow the wizard, it would not find a driver, and the not install one at the end. The wizard never prompted again for that device. Only two possible downsides is: 1. If it finds a driver automatically or 2. This trick might not work in XP...have not had an opportunity to try it yet.

Friend of mine is having the exact same problem with his installation of XP actually.. with both a USB printer and a Parallel port printer.. every time he boots up it reinstalls it.. we've mucked with it for awhile and cant figure it out..

If we do find something Ill be sure to post it here.. hopefully someone else comes up with a bright idea..

Thanks for the replies. I have gone through the wizard but it keeps coming back and I have gone through the wizard to reinstall. Still comes back. The printer works fine.

I do not know how it is done in XP but in 98 I would boot to the safe Mode, bring up Device Manager and remove ALL offending devices. Then power down the machine ( not just restart Windows ) restart and USUALLY ( but not always ) it would fix the problems,

Again, I do not know about XP but in 98 it would at times install duplicate devices if the above was not done.
