    Hi,
I am about to install a new hard drive (Seagate Barracuda ATA 1V model ST380021A). I was hopping to install the new drive along with the old then transfer the data to the new drive and remove the old one. I down loaded the software discwizard 2000 but when I run the program it says (NO OPEN POSITIONS TO ADD AN ATA DRIVE REMOVE AN EXISTING ATA DRIVE). But that way I would have to reload all my data.
    oswin 98sec
    processor AMD k6 (tm) 3D
    Can anybody help me.

    Neil................... :(

How many drives do you have on your Primary and secondary IDE channels?

How many ata devices do you have installed , there are usually 4 controllers available . Like cd drives
other hard drives , Cd-rw's . You may have to remove a cd drive temporarily to install and ghost this new
drive . OR you may have to add more drive letters so there is a letter available for the new drive . Sorry I
do not remember how to do this it has been so long .

Hi, Yes that was the problem, too many devices attached.
Removed CD rom and attached new drive then transfered data, after setup changed jumper settings removed old drive and installed CD rom drive. Alls well now.
    Thanks.
