I have an older Gateway GP7-600. The 10 gb hard drive failed. Until then everything worked great. I replaced the hard drive with a Western Digital 80 gb hard drive. Now when I shut down, it shuts down and starts right back up.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks

Check the bios/cmos setup and see if Power management settings need attention.
