I have Windows XP on my new computer. Whenever I create a new folder, when I click on it to open it up, one-fourth of the left side is taken up by some blue matter which states File and Folder tasks, Other Places, Details. I don't like this blue matter. How can I get rid of this blue matter so that when I create a new folder, I get clean white space when I open it up? I never got this blue matter when I had Windows 98. Thank you.

You can turn off this option by opening My Computer then...

    Tools>Folder Options>General Tab

In "Tasks" change options from "Show common tasks in folders" to "Use Windows classic folders ".

I also recommend that you purchase a good WinXP book...most of these answers can be found there and more.
