I have set it as the master (And only drive, aside from hard disk...) on my PC.

Occasionally, I will get the error message "ATAPI incomptible ".

The drive is recognised under "device manager" and in "my computer ".

I've set the bios entry for the drive as "auto "

The green light lights when the computer is on, indicating that there is power.

    Problems:
Drive does not eject (never has.) When I press the button, nothing happens. The green light does not even flash.

I used the emergency eject button, and inserted some disks.

Neither data nor dvds are recognised by the drive.

Can anyone shed some light onto this situation?

Is it connected to the same IDE connector and cable as your hard drive? If so it should be set as Slave

If it is connected to the Secondary IDE connector and set as Master that is OK.
Sounds a lot like a faulty drive.
