If I read you correct goucho, you want to reinstall windows and can't boot from the CD. What OS are you using? W2K XP and W2K3 will boot from the CD. 95, 98, NT4.0 and ME won't. For these earlier OS's you will need a startup disk with CD boot drivers installed, and the BIOS set to boot from the floppy (A) drive. For the later OS's. make sure your boot sequence in BIOS is set to boot from CDROM 1st and HDD second. The Mobo also has to support this function. Unless you have an OLD board then it will.

    Hi gaucho,

If the problems with Windows started when you installed the new CD drive, I suggest that you pull out and reseat the cable connections to all your drives. One may have knocked loose during the installation.
