I have found this browser, have anyone else heard of/used this browser, and is it worth downloading?

I have heard that it is a great browser.

absentmindedJWC--Steve Bass of PCWorld loves it. But then he likes anything other than IE and Netscape.

He sent a further analysis of other browers to his email group subscribers. Unfortunately I dumped it. Maybe it will appear in the next PCWorld.
But be aware that myie2 is just a shell on top of IE so you have to keep up to date on all MS patches for IE. Same thing for Avast.
If you like myie2's "bells and whistles" why not?

oh, i thought that it was maybe a standalone program. Right now i have mozilla and i am looking for a change (not that is bad or anything). Mostly, i dont like waiting for 30 seconds for the actual software to load (load screen). That and it seems a little to..... Netscapeie

I have used MYIE2 for a few years now and can recommend it.
The latest version is 09.26 available free from the site.
I still prefer version 08.130 if you can find it.
The reason is that the MS Favorites Folder is not shown to my
satisfaction. There are some posts about this on this board.
All in all it is a pleasure to use.
    regards
PS It IS a standalone - ie does not change any system files.
It is a GUI more or less for IE, with a few bells and
whistles added - and much nicer to look at.
I run v. 09.26, having got over the Favorites problem by
using Netvizualize - but that's not a free app.

Absentminded, yes, MyIE2 is a fairly respectable shell over IE. As another poster said, it isn't a distinct browser, but a shell. I used it for a while, and saw some good things about it, as I did with another popular IE shell, Avant (this is what Welshjim meant--not avast--that is antivirus software). Suit to taste. I ultimately went back to Mozilla because there were some stability issues (freezing, bookmarks not displaying properly), as well as the fact that Moz has a built-in password manager that works better than the others I've tried. Also, I found a greater variation in icons/themes. But again, this is individual taste--what works well on one comp might not on another.

If your concern about Mozilla is its loadup speed, have you considered using Firefox, the standalone version of Moz? Many users find it faster than the Moz suite browser, b/c it isn't an all-in-one suite, just a browser. If you go to www.mozilla.org , you can find links to it there. I have used Firefox for several months now, and have yet to notice a 30-second loadup wait. I'm not too sure what you meant by "netscapee" (cute adjective, btw), but you can skin it very easily with different themes (including one that is specifically designed to show IE-style icons).

I tried using MyIE2 but found I liked Firefox better. I also read an article from Jeff Partridge@LockerGnome who gave it a big thumbs down which made me lean even more over to Firefox.

    - http://channels.lockergnome.com/windows/backissues/20040311.phtml - It's near the bottom of the page
    - http://channels.lockergnome.com/windows/backissues/20040315.phtml - MyIE2 admins wrote back disagreeing...Good Read

Browser puzzles with me too  I was using Avant but had the red x issue and some freezing errors. I then tried MYIE2 although I liked some of the features I was concerned about a few others so have uninstalled this browser and do not wish to install it again!

I have re-installed Avant on my desktop and laptop, it is running well on my desktop and I do like the tabs and group features but I am back to the red x with Avant on my laptop (I think this relates to the encoding used) This really only happens on forum boards for some reason  I still have Avant on my laptop but am using IE6 again as the red x scenario disappears.

I have taken a look at Mozilla and Firefox  I am not at all sure about these browsers but would Firefox be lighter for my laptop and still give me some nice skins and features? I think I understand from this post that Mozilla itself gives e-mail etc which I do not need.

I would like a sleek browser but have never seen Firefox in operation - if I didn't like it is it easy to uninstall or does it take hold on XP?

    Yes...even has tabbed view.
    --------------------------------
Yes very easy to uninstall from add/remove programs (uninstalled older versions as the new ones came out) and No it does not take hold of XP...though it will want to be your "Default" browser...you just have to tell it no if you want IE or Avant to be the "Default.

Thank you precisely the answers I am looking for ;) I will try this browser knowing that it will not root itself within the OS just in case I can't get used to it. Typically Avant has been going find on webpages when I threatened it with a new browser but I know over a few minutes when I am browsing forums the same issues will arise.

I really think my laptop would cope much better with a nice light browser :) thanks again will be back to read all about Firefox next.
