    No Problems!

I had been using v 5.62 for a while so I'm familiar with the product.

There is a little hitch that I should mention for the benefit of anyone else who decides to get and use this little gem. There are actually two downloads required in order to get the whole enchilada. One is for the main program (AAW.EXE) and the other is for the updater utility(REFUPDATE.EXE) which installs separate from the main program and has its own entry on the START > PROGRAM menu. It will update the Ad-Aware database when called up.

About the only difference I can see from the old version is the updater. It makes for easy polling of the author's site and all the downloading and installing of updated files takes place without any action on your part.

There may well be another difference, I discovered a suspicious file names Alex that the old version had apparently not found. Of course that may have been due to the updated database more than the new program, we'll never know.

Here's what the report looks like:

Scan initialized on 3/27/02 3:41:19 PM.

    Dastardly Alexa!

    Jim,

You are the best for giving us heads up on these updates. Thank you so much.

    Zephyr,

You may very well have picked up Alexa from Netscape or IE?

The RefUpdate is an excellent addition to the program, and I definitely like using it, but only after a wait and see if all is well. There have been a couple of problems with the reflist.sig updates. Kind of like those MS Security Updates! ;)

Zephyr--Everytime you download a new version of IE (or even some of the patches for IE) MS will give you Alexa. You can tell when you have it by clicking on Tools in the Menubar. If you see Show Related Links, you got Alexa. AA will remove it, however, and you will no longer have Show Related Links in the Tools drop down menu.
    Ramona--Thanks for the kind words.
