We run a simple ethernet two machine network via satellite link(Hughes). Suddenly my wifes machine cannot see my machine or even the fact that it is part of a network, I've re-installed the network card and checked cable security etc . but click on network neighbourhood and it says there is no neighbourhood. My machine still sees itself but nothing else...What's up?? There was no crash...one day it was all working...nothing was moved, dusted or disturbed...next.....nada!!! Any suggestions welcome:eek:

It's possible someone told it "no" when the "connecting to network" message appeared during boot...which tells it not to try to re-connect to the network when it's booted up. If that's the case, the network will have to be re-mapped. Right click on Network Neighborhood, left click on Map Network. The old entries should still be there in the drop-down list, just tell the machine once again where to find the other computer.

If it still can't find the other computer, have you installed or upgraded a firewall on either machine lately? Even if you haven't, but do have a firewall running, shut it down and see if that solves the problem. If so, then the firewall needs to be configured to let the computers see each other.
