How can I turn on sharing between desktop and laptop...Both computers are recognized on the network...I can only see the public folders of each...Is there a way to make other folders viewable?

    Windows XP on both...

Windows Explorer > Tools > Folder Options > View - uncheck 'Use simple file sharing'.

Right click on a drive or folder > Properties > Sharing tab

If you designate to share the folder on your computer it should be seen by the laptop.

If you designate to share a folder on the laptop it should be seen on the main computer.

Any folder that you designate to be shared will be visible to other computers on the network.

Just click 'Share this folder' on the Sharing tab - the share name will be that of the folder > Apply

Then set the Permissions by clicking on the Permissions tab > Apply
