Don't know if I should post here or network, but here goes.
I have two machines on a network 1 with XP Pro and 1 98se.
I am able to see the 98 computer from XP. I can see the XP from 98 but when I try to open up the XP computer from 98 it ask's for a password.

Do I need to create a password on XP someplace or just put one in when asked on 98?

XP to 98 works fine. Both have the same workgroups name.
I turned of the firewall in XP, that's how 98 box finaly connected to XP box.I have ZA Pro on the XP box. We also are connected to the internet (cable) with a linksys router.

    Thanks
    BobW

Your XP system is using user based authenication. So you will need to logon to your Win98 system with a user that is also on your XP system.
    For example.
If you have Joe on your XP system as a user account. Logon as Joe on your 98 system using the same password as your XP system. When you access XP through the network, your user creditial will pass, and you will gain access.
Otherwise you will be prompted for the $IPC password, for which you will never get right.
