I have about 6 computers (most of them using Windows XP) all on a single non-secured Network.

My mother's laptop has suddenly malfunctioned and I have been unable to get it hooked to the Home Network. But bear in mind, the Internet works!

In "My Network Places ", I only see

    1. "My Web Sites on MSN "

    2. "NETGEAR WNR834B ROUTER "

On every other computer, I see the other shared folders from the other computers.

I'm continuelly going to "Set up a home or small office network ", selecting to use the existing shared connection, naming it the same as the "Home Network" name I gave the network for the others, Turn on File and printer sharing, finishing, then restarting my computer.

Afterward, I open My Network Places, and still no folders show. NO matter what I do!

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

    G'DAy Lysimachus,

Sometimes if only one PC is changed in a network structure and is not recognized by other PC's in the network group, it may be a case of simply renewing (re-enter) the,

    1. Workgroup Name, and
    2. Disconnect (delete) the existing share and then renew it.
    3. Re-boot the PC before you look for it on the network !

Or the other is to re-initializing the network.

By that I mean, turn every PC OFF (power all devises OFF) including any Hubs and Modems / Routers, wait 15 seconds, and then re-start (power ON) in this order,

    1. Modem Router - wait until all external signing on is completed indicated by the ISP (PPO/ or DSL / or WAN / or Connected) light on and steady on the Modem/Router.

    2. Then, any Hubs, wait for hub to be recognized my Modem Router (as the Modem Router may have been set up to be the DHCP Server.

    3. Start switching the PC's back on, one at a time and when the 1st one is at the desktop, then switch on the next, etc.

Let me know how you go.
