I have a mixture of W2K and XP HOME machines running on a peer to per network.

I have NETBEIU installed on all the machines as well as TCP/IP.

In addition there is IPX/SPX NETBIOS protocol installed on all machines.

Will this cause a conflict having the IPX/SPX NETBIOS PROTOCOL installed ?

What is the advantage of having this IPX/SPX NETBIOS installed...if any ?

    Thank you for your feedback.

    No conflict.

No advantage unless you have something that requires IPX/SPX (a Novell networking protocol) and in that case you can do away with NetBeui.

Many folks opt to have a protocol other than TCP/IP installed for safety. They use it for file & printer sharing since neither protocol will go on (or be seen from) the internet. But either of the two you mentioned will do the job.
