Hello all, my new computer that I just bought last week has been causing network error problem since yesterday. When I got it, I set it up and everything worked fine, it's just that yesterday when I tried to connect to Internet via Motorola cable modem that runs on comcast, it shows "Error 651 The Modem (or other connecting device) has reported an error ". I tried a lot of solutions but none is working. I'm making this post using my laptop which runs on wireless (same modem). I tried using different Ethernet cables but all of them are giving me the same problem.

    Computer Details:
    Windows 7 Home Premium
    Manufacturer: Dell
    Model: Inspiron 560
    Rating: 3.5
    Processor: Pentium(R) Dual-Core CPU E5700@ 3.00GHz 3.00GHz
    Installed Memory (RAM): 4.00GB
System Type: 64 bit operating system

Did you try Set up a new connection or network in Windows 7 Network and Sharing Center?

If so, you did wrong. This option is only needed if you use VPN (not likely). Delete the setting you created.

Reboot the modem with Windows 7 LAN cable connected and let Windows 7 configure the connection for you.

Sorry, I called dell and they helped me out. It seemed to be an anti-virus issue when 2 anti-viruses collide. They did some stuff with the cmd in safe mode and networking and got it to work after an hour or so.
