I have Windows XP on my new computer. If I go to Start/Control Panel/Network Connection, I get icons for my dial-up provider, a New Connection Wizard and a Local Area Connection Wizard. I do not have any other accounts or usernames on my computer. I am the sole account holder. There is no one sharing my computer with me. My Local Area Connection icon is a nuisance. For one thing it puts an icon on my taskbar which I cannot get rid of. I would like to delete the Local Area Connection icon from my Network Connection screen. Can I do this safely? Thank you.

    Hello 427,
I am going to give you the benefit of the doubt and am now asking you if there is a good reason why you have failed or seem to refuse to update your posts (past and present) with the final results? This has been asked of you on many occasions. I am afraid you may find the responses to your posts may take much longer as a result. Speaking personally, I have decided not to respond to your posts until I see some of your past posts have been updated or at least any new ones are including updates and feedback. I suspect other members are also waiting for some sign that this board custom of "courtesy and manners" will be applied by yourself. You may find this reflected in the amount of times your post has been viewed but unresponded to. As much as I hate to see a post go unanswered and unresolved, yours will not be done so by myself.

I am not trying to lecture or demand such. The choice is yours to make. I do not mean this as a personal attack but merely as a headsup.

    Hi, 427. :)

Here are convenient links to all your other past threads so you can easily post informative follow-up replies in each of those threads (about what worked or not) that may be helpful for the Windows BBS community.

    1. dark screen
    2. [Trying out IE7?]
    3. Windows Media Player (This issue seems to be resolved. However, a follow-up confirming this would be helpful.)
    4. RealOne Player
    5. strange screen
    6. usernane problem
    7. username (nearly a duplicate post of the above)
    8. automatic updates
    9. bookmarks
    10. sounds
    11. Home v. Media Center
    12. color of desktop screen
    13. [how to put an icon onto my taskbar?]
    14. [how to add an icon to the start menu?]
    15. shortcut on desktop
    16. Add Eudora to Tools/Internet Options/Programs/E-mail (No reply necessary for this thread at this time.)
    17. wagging dog
    18. [Installing] Java
    19. balloon type of message
    20. Notepad [suggetions for an alternative?]

Other Windows BBS users with the same or similar issues as you are more likely to benefit from your threads if you post informative follow-ups about what works or not. Also, people are more likely to offer suggestions to you in the future if you get into the habit of posting informative follow-ups.

    Thanks for reading this. :)

BTW, I am sending this message to 427 via PM as well so (s)he can easily find this information at any later date.

EDIT: I sent the message above (with thread links) to 427 titled "Please post informative follow-ups." I received a "Confirmed Private Message Receipt" for that message with Read Date: 15th March 2007 05:19 (Eastern Time). Therefore, I assume 427 has read the message. :)

I included the following additional information in that Private Message (PM):
