    Hello.

I'm with a little problem in my Netscape.
I want to change my mailbox to eudora and, after, outlook. It's the only way I found.
So, I tried to do this change, but i wasn't well succeeded.
I follow all steps and Eudora create its inbox from Netscape.
But when I opened the Eudora inbox, the directories aren't the same I have in Netscape.
    See:

Eudora directories (after import from netscape)
    > a
    > b
    >> b1
    > c
    > d

    Netscape directories (correct)
    > a
    >> a1
    >> a2
    > b
    >> b1
    >> b2
    > c
    >> c1
    >> c2
    >> c3
    > d
    and so on...

I noticed the prefs.js is the "guilty ". It's dated 2004, when it was created. It wasn't updated.
I would like to know if it's possible update this file or not. Or how to correct this situation?
    Thanks.

    Eduardo.

    Eduardo,
which version of Eudora? Qualcommstopped supporting Eudora, and there is v.8 at the beta3 stage. This Eudora, is based on Mozilla Thunderbird, but, from what I can see it has the Eudora buttons.
Now, going back to what you say, I don't follow you, as Eudora is a standalone Mail program, and the Netscape which you don't identify is a separate program with browser and mail. I don't see what would be the advantage of modifying the Netscape preferences to see what you have in an external application.
It is not a prefs.js problem, but rather a problem with the import mechanism from Netscape to Eudora. And, honestly, not knowing neither the Eudora nor the Netscape version, I have no idea how to deal with this.
I, simply, don't understand what you are trying to do, nor how.
Anyway, if the end is to set up Outlook, going through Eudora is not the way to go.

    Dear Westside

    I used Eudora 7.1.something.
My intention is to go to outlook and use IE as standard browser. I like use Netscape and I’m just leaving it because:
    - Many Homepages don’t open in Netscape.
    - It started to close by itself; mainly a flash pop up it’s opened. I’ve been tried to solve, but unsuccessfully. I installed an app named flashblock, from http://flashblock.mozdev.org/installation.html, to solve problems within orkut, because Netscape doesn’t del the messages nor other java commands. I read in a forum that flashblock could solve this problem. It’s a lie. Beside I didn’t solve the problem, I added another one. I uninstalled and installed Netscape, but… When Netscape closes, it’s shown a message:
    AppName: Netscape.exe AppVersion: 7.2.0.0 ModName: gklayout.dll
I read that the only way to transfer Netscape 7 mailbox to outlook is using another program, like Eudora. So, it’s what I’m trying to do.
Another problem is that Netscape is with its support to be finished. I wouldn’t like this happens to choose another program.

If you, or another one, could help me, I’ll be glad.

    Eduardo,
anyone who has followed the undevelopment (I call it that) of Netscape, has known that 1. Netscape is owned by AOL, which has stopped supporting the suite, i.e. NS7.x, for over 3 yrs. Since there was no publicity, this fact is not known by general users. Since then, AOL has come out with browser only programs, i.e. NS8 and 9, which were unofficially linked to Mozilla Thunderbird. The Netscape division never came out with a Mail only program.
    2. Microsoft has seen fit to ignore NS6/7, so the users were caught in limbo.
    3. There is an excellent on how to proceed to import the settings into Outlook Express and Outlook , which as you said require an intermediary program. The old Eudora is not the way to do. The import process works poorly.
    4. Since NS7.2 has not been developed all these years, the browser portion has become more and more inadequate, and, unless serviced well, it may give more and more errors.
    5. If one is having all these problems, it is not necessary to go Microsoft, but rather use the existing, and up-to-date Mozilla programs (Netscape7.2 was nothing more than an AOL-branded Mozilla.
Depending on the preferences, one can either go standalones, i.e. Firefox as browser, and Thunderbird for Mail. This is very much like the use of IE as browser, and Outlook Express or Outlook for Mail.
The settings can be imported, directly, from NS7.2 to the individual programs, on installation.
Now, how well this works with Mail has produced mixed reports. In many cases subfolders have not been importing the contents, very much like your problem to Eudora. However, the mail format of NS7.2 and Thunderbird is the same, so unimported folders can be transferred manually . It may a nuisance, but surely a simpler procedure than going Microsoft. Also, if one has several mail accounts, as I do, the manual transfer is the only way to go.

You can do whatever you want, and whenever you want. I have posted in detail should anyone else care.
