    Hi Ramona,

When I click on Edit/Preferences in Netscape 7, the box that appears is too small for the information provided. Many lines are cut off at the bottom and on the right side, and the window cannot be expanded or scrolled. Is there a a way to fix this? Thanks,

    John

    Greetings:

Is the window display actually smaller or is it just down in the lower right corner.

My preference windows is app 2/3 of the screen starting in the upper left corner.

The righthand side is cut off by about 5-6 characters

My window it too small to display all the information. I can drag it around on the screen but cannot enlarge it to show everything. Probably just like BillyBob's. I have a flat screen monitor, but doubt that the monitor or video software is at fault. No other program has this problem.

    Greetings Gentlemen,

What Themes are you using? This can have an effect on the window sizes. The Preferences Window cannot be resized, at least in Ver. 7.0, and only captjlddavis can tell us if this is also true in 7.01.

For those of you who can access the actual preferences, once you select them, just press "Enter" and this will suffice as the option to "OK ".

I also have the Modern theme, and running Win 98SE, and the Preferences window is displayed in full. It might have to do with your screen resolution, but then again, maybe not. I use 800 x 600, which gives me the full windows.

I'm using the Modern theme, Windows 98SE. The "too-small" Preferences window appears no matter what resolution I use. For example, from Preferences, if I click on Mail & Newsgroups, the sample window layout on the right hand side is cut off. Under "Mail Start Page" at the bottom, the first sentence ends with the word "are." (Prob should be "area. ") The word "Location" on the next line is cut in half lengthwise, and the URL window is cut the same way. The OK, Cancel and Help buttons are fine, but there is no right-hand side or bottom scroll bar so that I can move the box content around. Weird!

No I didn't. For most of the windows in Preferences the missing words are not a problem. In a few of them, missing buttons are a drag. Under "Navigator," "Helper Applications," "Opening Files," for example, the Reset button is completely off the screen. I

I am now using the SkyPilot Ckassic Theme and the right side is not cut off as much as is was.

I can now see the full word " Mail " and all but the " O " in Radio.

    I am running 800x600 with 16bit color.

Also same problem in same place as supecoop

I had a couple of the situations that you indicated, I was able to "Mouse around" the edge and get the double arrow to display and resize the window. After getting the correct size I was unable to duplicate it again in some, but not all pref windows.

    Very strange indeed ............

Can't do much if i can't duplicate it.

I had the same experience as captjldavis a few days ago. Thought I was nuts! But occasionally at least one window will expand. It's not happening today though. Another strange thing is that windows that have scroll bars in the middle, like Advanced, grow them when needed.

Have any of you tried using 1024 X 768 resolution? I did see that suggestion on the Netscape 7 NG:

I use 102 X 768, but this problem occurs at all resolutions.

    :( If I use 1024x768 I can not read it :(

But I will have a go at it just to see what happens. But I can't run constantly at that size.

Tried 1024x768 256 colors. Same conditions exist.

***** AT YOUR OWN RISK ******

It looks like the various sizes that are selected are written to your :

"localstore.rdf" file. If you Really want to change the size you will have to find the section that pertains to the one that is not responding and change it there.

My selections seem to be working as they should So....... I ain't going to messin' with it..........

.Rdf file can be edited with Notepad or whatever.

I don't think this HACK solves the initial problem , it just depends on how bad you want to mess with it.

BE SURE TO BACKUP BEFORE YOU PROWL AROUND

This is all my opinion and I can't guarantee anything will work.

Maybe it will get someone more familiar involved.

    Anyway it's worth a look.
    Regards:

    PS. Using Win 98Se - NS 7.01(compact #8)
