    Hello,

I am looking for documentation on how to force Windows 2K/XP users, no matter what group they are a part of, to use the same Netscape profile. I have copied the profile to the Default User in Windows and given Everyone the rights to use it so that when a new user logs in it is part of his or her new profile but the Profile Manager comes up anyways asking to create a new profile unless you are part of the Admin group. If you are not part of the Admin group and try to use the "default" profile you receive a message that the folder cannot be found, but it is there an present, "Everyone" has full control on this folder as well.

    Any help would be great.

    TIA!

    Welcome to the Forum, Labrosse!

    Hi Labrosse,

I'm hoping that the following information will be a solution for your problem:

Windows 2000/XP: Use one Netscape profile for all users

This can be useful, if you have different W2K Users, but only one Netscape profile.

Go into \Documents and Settings\W2K-User_1\Application Data\Mozilla\. This is the folder of the W2K/XP User for which you originally created the Netscape 6/7 profile.

There you find the file registry.dat. Copy this file into \Documents and Settings\W2K-User_2\Application Data\Mozilla\. This is the folder of the W2K/XP User 2 with which you want to share the Netscape profile. If "Mozilla" isn't there, create that folder.

Thank you for the reply. Unfortunatly I have tried this before...I have read pretty much all documentation on Netscape 7.0 available on the planet! When I copy the profile that I am using over to "Default User" this copies everything under Documents and Settings, so that when a new users login they receive the same layouts and settings, but Netscape it the only one not cooperating here...I can't seem to bypass the creationg of a new profile unless you are part of the Admin group...would you happen to have an e-mail address for the Netscape Devs...? When I called their support lines they told me to send them an e-mail since they don't except phone calls, I asked for the address but they did not know it and refered me to Mozilla.org or dev.netscape.com to find the address and I have had no luck.

    Thanks again!

    Hi Labrosse,

Well, that just about concludes my literacy on the subject. I can refer you to the DevEdge site: http://devedge.netscape.com/

Perhaps someone using W2K/XP, will step in and give you a hand.
