Every time I click on the icon for Netscape I get a grey pop-up box saying there is an error with the javascript configuration file and do I want to use previous setting; it's a pain. Any help in making this stop?

There is an error in your prefs.js file.

What version of netscape? Does the error state which line number?

no...it does not. I'm using version 4.78, it just states that there is an error in the javascript configuration file and then asks if I want to use what was used in previous session or cancel. I get by the pop up but it's a minor invonvenience to do every time.

hmmm.... without seeing the prefs.js file it is impossible to tell where the error is. A quick solution is to rename your prefs.js file to something like prefs.js.old or prefs.old (netscape must be closed), then start netscape. A new, default prefs.js file should be created, but you will have to enter all of your preferences again.
