I hadn't even conquered Windows XP when I had to buy this new PC with Vista.

I can't find my profiles (among other familiar things) in Vista.

Where are they hiding the Netscape and FireFox profiles.

This is another strange question but my fonts on any site that I visit are very small. I only began to use this system tonight so don't think I changed anything. Any idea on this issue? I tried to change the fonts under Preference but had no luck.

Your path is users/ "your account "/Appdata/Roaming. There you will find the subdirectories to your needed progs.

Not sure about your other problem. You could try a right click of the desktop and, over on the left is an options to change your fonts.

    Uhaligani,

Thanks so much for your help. I was able to find what I needed with one exception. What is the file name for the address book?

Is it in the same place the mail folders were? I tried one file that I thought was it but apparently it wasn't.

I also messed around with trying to figure out the fonts thing and think I did something I shouldn't have. Some of the emails are now looking mighty funny. Lots of characters that must have something to do with the hmtl issue?

    Here I am again.

I found the file (abook.mab) that I had saved to a flash drive before getting this new computer.

So I copied it into the .slt folder on this new PC. But it didn't work. When I open Messenger nothing has changed. But the new profile shows the same size as the old one.

Any idea what I did wrong?

    Sorry for all the questions.

If you copied the file in the correct folder, you should be ok. See, what are the properties of the file, abook.mab. Make sure that they are not Read only, or hidden. The best way to import the addresses is to export them in a .ldif file, in the old OS, which, in turn can be imported into the new OS. All my address books are backed up as .ldif files.

The address book can be found under Users/ "your name "/Contacts.

If you want to transfer your addresses from XP it is quite simple. Open the import facility from Windows mail and the program does the rest. You will need them to be in Ldif format if you do not have them as *wab. You only need to provide the correct path. If you have saved your addresses as Ldif, as suggested above, then show it that path. If you need any software help to convert, here is a prog that can do it for you:

    Thanks to both of you.

It took some doing but I finally accomplished the feat. The problem was that my old XP system was acting so erratic that I never knew if I'd be able to get on each time I tried. I had backed most everything up including my profiles but dropping and dragging the .mab deal simply didn't work.

So I started up the old sytem and luckily I could export the address book to a ldif file and then import it to the Vista system. Praise the Lord!!

Hang on. With Vista I'm afraid I'll be back many times.

I think that I will renew the service contract on my old XP, for at least one more year.
