netscape accelerator n netscape 7.1

ok i have win 98 se use dial up n netscape isp i was fine with netscape 7.1 as browser til i downloaded netscapes web accelerator had s many error messages n uninstalled it it took my browser pieces with it i finally uninstalled 7.1 it was not working n rinstalled it since then it wont do anything i got 4 to woork it has alot or errors 6.2 will load with my profile wont work says cannot connect to anything i dislike ie n want my browser setting back on a decent browser i didnt see naything like this plz direct me to what i can do i do not know much at all about puters

Hi lazbeee,

When you uninstalled Netscape 7.1 did you also remove these folders:
mozilla.org folder located here:
C:\Program Files\Common Files\mozilla.org

Netscape folder located here:
C:\Program Files\Netscape\Netscape

If not, you should do that before reinstalling Netscape.

The Netscape ISP is a strange animal, with no known, to me, relation to the netscape browser. If you mean netscape accelerator that program, I think, which allows you to get an apparent higher speed with dial up, then it will change your Proxies settings, making a mess of your browser. It is the same reason why a Virus Scanner will mess up the outgoing mail. I am pretty positive that you could have avoided the problem, by careful reading.
I cannot test this accelerator, because I have cable. I will try some friend who has this 5x accelerator with another ISP, and see what he did. But, you have made a mess of the entire thing, so there is no simple going back.

i installed new drive n started over now i have new prob i will search to see if there is a posting for it if not ill be back lol
