I recently upgraded from Netscape 7 to Netscape 8.

I notice that when saving a jpg image via the save image window, that the window will only show files of the type jpeg. Furthermore, if the file to be saved is a jpg, the file type will default to xxxx.jpg.jpeg, therby putting a double extension on the file. The file can be edited to xxxx.jpg and it seems to download ok, but it is inconvenient to have to do this every time, and it is not so nice not to see the other files in the save image window. Also, I don't like to have double extensions on all my downloaded pictures.

Netscape 7 did not do things this way, nor does Internet Explorer. Am I missing something? Is there a way to fix this?

    Welcome to the Forum, sdculp!

    Stu,

This is a bug, originating in Firefox. As Netscape 8 uses the Firefox source code, you are seeing in Netscape. As long as you realize you can change the extension, even though annoying, then it looks as if you will have to live with it until it is fixed. You can read more here: Bug #270159

I did look at a large number of threads on the Netscape 8 Forum, and didn't see any other reports in Technical issues...
