I use Windows 95 and Netscape 7.0. I also use Nescape to read my emails. Early this week I started getting a startup config file error . Line 61 Reference error. I followed advise and delited prefs.js and used the prefs.bat. That didn't change anything. So I just used the one of your pages
    C:\Windows\Application Data\Mozilla\Profiles\profilename\xxxxxxxx.slt

The problem is I can get into netscape ok but my netscape mail no longer has me as a user. How do I find my old emails. I know if I put in a new profile I will lose my emails.
Help, I have books I need to review setting in these folder.

When you deleted your prefs.js (& prefs.bak) files, you deleted all the settings for your mail accounts. The mail is still there, only netscape doesn't know anything about it. Your two choices are:

edit your preferences (edit/preferences) to set up mail account, and hope netscape picks up the old mail files

    or

just make a new profile, set up all your preferences, then simply copy your personal files over to the new profile (bookmarks, mail, cookies, etc).

These may be of some help:

Someone else may chime in with further information....
