    Welcome to the Forum, ROBINT!

    Hi ROBINT,

    With Netscape closed:

    In Windows Explorer go to:
    C:\WINDOWS\Application Data\Mozilla\Profiles\username\*.slt
    Delete the Cache Folder
    Delete history.dat
(This is all for good measure) ;)

Go to your Mail Folder, and copy the folder to your back up folder.

    Open your Mail Folder
Delete the files with an .msf extension, i.e., inbox.msf, sent.msf, trash.msf, etc.
    Important:
Do not delete any files without an .msf extension.

Open Netscape, now see if you can select View|Headers "All" without Netscape crashing. If this was successful, then do the following:

Check your Mail & Newsgroups Account Settings under "Disk Space" and see if you have enabled "Do not download messages locally that are larger than.....
Also select "Empty Trash on Exit" under "Server Setting "s

Then, Edit|Preferences|Advanced|Offline & Disk Space. Enable "Compact Folders when it will save over..... KB ".

Post back and let us know if you continue to have problems.

    Ramona :D

I believe Ramona was referring to the mail folder in your Netscape profile... located here...

    C:\WINDOWS\Application Data\Mozilla\Profiles\username\*.slt\mail\mailserver\your_mail_files_here

Netscape must be closed when you do this. As a reminder, do not delete the files without extensions. .msf files are safe to delete (basically index files), but the others ones are not. Remember to back up your mail folder before doing anything, as Ramona suggested.

I would suggest keeping the backups for a few days, and if everything continues smoothly, you can feel free to delete the backups. ;)

    Hi ROBINT,

Glad to hear that you are problem free!

A "thank you" to tranquilo for clarifying my suggestions! ;)

It's a good idea to back up your Profiles folder at least 3xweekly, especially if you make frequent changes to Netscape. New Bookmarks, Addresses, etc. Now would be a good time to back up, as your Profile is problem free. Hang onto the Mail Folder backup for a few days, and when you're convinced that all is well, then you can deep six it!
