Netscape 7.2 saving emails

    I have a new Internet provider. When I set up the new email account I will lose all my email. I cannot find the files on my hard drive. There is no export of email in Netscape 7.2. Does anyone know how to save the email and reinstall them back in Netscape 7.2 after I change providers and set up the new email account?

    Netscape7.2 is an old program, and, although it works, you may not find any support.
    If you go in NS7.2 mail (click on envelope on bottom left), and select, on the top row: Edit|Mail and Newsgroups Account Settings, you will see the settings for your account.
    Click on Server settings, and you will see a bunch of items on the right side. If "leave on server" is not checked, place a a check mark. If you downloaded the mail, it should be there, but you cannot get it again, if not left on server. If you do not see the mail headers, you may have corrupted header file(s). Refer to this writeup. You should get the mail back.
    Seamonkey will replace NS7.2, and will pick up the NS profile. Don't try to use both NS and Seamonkey.

    Assumming your using the default settings you should find your profile and mail folders in a path similar to this:...
    C:\Documents and Settings\RAY\Application Data\Mozilla\Profiles\RAY-NS\202rf86n.slt\Mail\mail.bellsouth.net


    This shouldn't be all that complicated as I don't think you need do anything except change the Incoming and Outgoing Server Settings providing your using Netscape in the normal manner and downloading the mail to your computer and not using the ISP Mail Program.

    However prior to doing anything I would make a backup of my profile folder which should also included your mail folder.

    Next within NS Mail, highlight your MAIL Account name and click on "View Settings for this Account ". At the next screen in upper left corner click on "Server Settings" and change the settings on the next screen to whatever the new ISP requires.

    This is the "Incoming Server ".

    Once this is reset go back to the previous screen and in the lower left corner, click on "Outgoing Server (SMTP)" and then Click on "EDIT" and change the Settings to the NEW ISP requirements

    I don't think any other thing will be required and you nor Netscape will even know you changed ISP.

    Your mail should be same as always and the new stuff should come in just like nothing has changed.

    All this export/import stuff or anything else is not necessary providing your using Netscape Mail in what I would call the normal manner.

    Westside gave you good advice. You'll never regret switching to Seamonkey and here again you will hardly see any difference between the two program as you will think your still using NS 7.2.

    Netscape is a dead duck and Seamonkey is the new program being kept up to date.
