Netscape 7.2 use to display a popup blocker icon in the navigator status bar, but it disappeared. My settings are correct in preferences Privacy & Security. The display icon box is checked in popup blocker. I have reinstalled 7.2 without resolve.

Can you tell me what you mean by correct settings? I set to block popups in the
Popup settings, and there is no reason to have any icon, and have none. But you should have the icon if you do not select to block popups, and you want to do it as they appear.

    Popup Blocker

My settings in preferences/ privacy and security/ popup windows: Box is checked -Display an icon in the Navigator status bar-.
No icon is displayed in the Navigator status bar on my Win XP Home pc but it is on my three other pc's. If you have it on your pc you would see an icon in your navigator bar that says Pop-ups Blocked: or Pop-up Block Off. I have uninstalled and reinstalled 7.2 and the popup blocker doesn't work.

The point I was trying to make was not if see this icon, but if you have the settings. Now, where did you see this icon? The usual stuff is on my bottom left. The right side, going from left to right has: 1. The load box, and two icons: one allows me to switch from online to offline, I think, but I don't touch it. The other one displays security info. I has a lock. Do you have three icons?
I tried all sort of combination of settings in Privacy and Security|Popup controls. If you set to block unrequested windows, it will block all windows, except for the allowed sites. Some, for obvious reasons are preset.
You say that the popup blocker does not work. My answer to that is how do you determine that. If you use the same Theme and settings there should be no difference. To see if the blocker works, just remove netscape.com from the allowed list, after having tried it first.
I am using the Skypilot theme, and I had the Oh Canada theme in Mozilla. I changed to the modern theme, but when I closed mozilla after unchecking the block unrequested windows, a popup apeared. After checking the box again, no problem.

    Popup Blocker

    Go to this webpage http://channels.netscape.com/ns/search/install.jsp.
It shows you what the navigator bar looks like with popup blocker installed with 7.2. It looks the same whether you install the navigator bar with IE or Netscape. It shows on three of my computers but not on my Compaq 905us. I've reinstalled 7.2 many times but the popup blocker doesn't appear in the navigator bar.

    Popup Blocker

I just figured it out. When I click on the netscape icon in the navigator bar and I choose options I can enable the popup blocker icon by checking visable. Thanks

I asked you one question, and you repeated what you said before. Whatever you want should be in the Netscape Toolbar, not the navigator bar. The link you give me tells very clearly that it is something for the special Toolbar. I found it totall useless, and just taking space. I disabled it.
Also, you have been making the common mistake of expecting solution to you your problems by reinstalling the program. If the toolbar is installed you should find something in your profile .slt folder. I have a netscapetoolbar.rdf file.
I had inactivated the toolbar, but reactivated it to give you an answer. If you have it, then go to the left side to the Netscape button|Options|check Popup button, and you will see it. And, if you do that you will get a count of popup stopped. But it is not the toolbar which is doing it, but the settings in NS preferences, as you can see in the link from the site which you gave me.
The only use of that button is to give you a count of blocked popup, and to turn the blocker off, in case you do get an expected response at some site.
But, in Netscape the entire toolbar just take too much space. I don't know if SP2 is doing the job now, but the AOL and now Netscape Toolbar were introduced by AOL for use in Internet Explorer.
I hope you understand what I said.
