My NS failed recently and somehow wiped out most of my mail boxes. I am trying to recover. I have some old mail boxes, I think from 7.1 or 7.2, but some from 4.x as well. What is suuppossed to be in the porfiles folder re files and folders and how can I make conversions from 4.x. I can't even get NS 7.2 to recognize sdb folders. I am working in C:\Documents and Settings\Ron Glass\Application Data\Mozilla\Profiles\default\hloxr49w.slt\Mail where I have
mail.comcast.net and local folders. In each there are sdb folders and file pairs such as drafts/drafts.msf. Should there be any snm files ? Help, please.

There is no nothing wrong with draft/draft.msf pairs, but I am not sure that I understand. Are they in .sbd folders? If so why. Subfolders are mainly to store e-mail. The Draft folder is just to keep mail till you send it, if for some reason you were not ready to send it. There should not be any draft file in a .sbd folder. And, any .snm file is the header file of NS4.x and should be deleted.
The major point is this, did you have any subfolders in any of your mail before?
And, if the name is Inbox.sbd, there can be only one/per account.

The "draft" is a dummy stand in for other files, don't get hung up on it. But something I don't understand is that I had/have sbd folders with xxx/xxx.snm file pairs in them and they do not show up. I will try deleting the snm files. I have some sbd folders that have xxx/xxx.msf file pairs - should either of these pairs be deleted ?

I was not getting hung up on the Draft part. It just happens that draft file does already exist, so the poor program may get confused. I would, at least rename the folder, even to Draft1. If you have anything with .snm files, the .snm files should be deleted. Do the deletions with the program closed, or else you will be back to square one. As for the .msf files it should not hurt to delete them.
