I searched the forums for this info and found a thread that was over two years old.

But, what I'd like to be able to do is copy a large 27 meg. e-mail file to a CD and give it to someone with Outlook Express to use. This one file contains hundreds of e-mails I saved and now need to share.

Is there a simple way to do this now?

Thankx in advance for you help,
    SKEETF

As far as I know you can't. You can do the reverse, but I guess that it is up to OE to allow the importing. As far as I know OE and NS4.8, or earlier talk to each other, and the Inbox file format of 4.x and 7.x are identical. So, I would recommend an intermediate step involving 4.x

    SkeetF,

The recommended way to do this, is to install Netscape Communicator 4.79 or 4.8. Copy the Mail files without the MSF extension to Communicator's Mail folder. The header files will be rebuilt as SNM extensions for each of the Inbox, Templates, Drafts, etc. folders.

    See this page for details:
Importing Netscape 7 / Mozilla Mail into Outlook Express, or Outlook

There is no simple way to do this, as Outlook Express/Outlook doesn't use the standard mbx format, which Netscape/Mozilla/Thunderbird do, but a proprietary format. Copying the Mail to Communicator changes the messages to mbx format.

Once you have copied the Mail to Communicator, then you can burn to CD, and your friend with OE (hopefully) can import the messages on the CD to his/her Mail.

But then again, your friend may have to install Netscape Communicator, transfer the Mail on the CD to Messenger, then Import to OE. This is the first time I've had this request, from CD to OE.

This MSKB Article makes it look simple, but as I don't have OE on my system, I have no way to test...
