I recently bought a new Dell running XP and downloaded Netscape 7.2. I have been a long time user of Netscape. I noticed in the new version that the option for replying to an email is missing from my Compositions preferences. The help for 7.2 points to this section of the preferences, however, this option does not exist. The default is that when I reply to an email, it puts me at the bottom of the message, unless I move it to the top.

I have shown the help quote below.

Automatically quote the original message when replying: Select this to include the original message text in your reply. Then use the drop-down list to select where you want to place your reply in the message area

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Andrew

    ctfarmboy,
I beleive that it is a per account setting....

From within the mail compose window, select Edit| Mail & Newsgroup account settings......Composition & Addressing - look on the right hand panel....

    HTH regards:captjlddavis

Thanks for the responses. However, if I go to Edit/Preferences/Mail & Newsgroups/Composition ... no option exists to start my reply above or below the quoted text.

I'm at my office right now with 7.1, and I go to the same area and the option is right there. I wonder if this is a 7.2 glitch.

Please read what the capt said: Edit| Mail & Newsgroup account settings......Composition & Addressing.
You can get to it only from Mail. It is the line right above Preferences, and it is set on the account basis. I have about ten accounts, and I use different settings for them. I will be more thorough, and the exact path:
Edit| Mail & Newsgroup Account Settings| select the Composition and Addressing for that account. It is not a glitch, just matter of getting used to it.

It makes sense if you have multiple accounts, and , especially if you belong to some newsgroup which insist in having in having monumental quotes of long threads. None follows their rules because they are so unmanageable, and they insist in having top quoting, as if it will reassure them that the entire is thread is read. So, some accounts can have quoting on top, and some at the bottom. And, default is still top quoting. I guess that the original developers were inclunced by that infamous news group. As you can see, the same rule applies here, at this newsgroup. and, it makes sense, if the quote is short. Otherwise, why bother quoting?
