OK... so I a bit off the schedule of updating /;-) I have NS 7.2 with LOTS of emails. Today, I had an error with trying to send, when after researching determined my Sent file was 2GB. So I began moving folders out of it into new paths. Then I compacted the new folders... but maybe when moving / compacting, NS seemed to lose several folders of emails.

Anyhow, I have a large email file lets call it-- STUFF, that seems to be left over (maybe my missing emails / folders?) and it is about 667MB. I tried chucking it's MSF, and let NS rebuild... yet NS will not rebuild.

I can view the contents of the STUFF with CMD, via type inbox | more. I saw this old news post >>> http://answers.google.com/answers/threadview/id/344125.html
...about using formail.exe to rebuild the file. Alas, I cannot seem to find formail.exe.

I did see another post about opening the large STUFF file in Word, and trying to split into parts, so that the STUFF1 and STUFF2 could load separately in NS. I have not yet tried that process.

Is there a utility or process to rebuild the STUFF file, so when loaded into NS, NS will rebuild it's MSF properly?

    Thanks!
    ~Terry

Terry did you look at this link in Google answers?.
As for your huge folder, are there any subfolders within it? I have, never, let any folder grow over 50 MB, placing some mail in subfolders.
I can't tell what you did, other than having way too much mail in any folder. As for using Word, I would not know, as it is a Microsoft utility, and Netscape is not.

    Hi Westside,

Re the line.. YES, I did. Bit I was not able to track down formail.exe to rebuild the file.

Re Word... One weblink I found said to open the file in word, and then "split" into parts (via the end line of an email seen), and then reload the file parts into NS.

But maybe you know of another utility to repair a NS mail file? Remember I can view the contents with CMD... So I know emails exist in the code. But I guess the header or some part of the mail file is corrupt?

    Thanks!

Except for your post, when I did a Search, I did not come up with a single hit, for "formail.exe ".
You must understand that you may have made a mess by moving you folders into other paths. Without knowing, exactly, what you did, I can't, even, begin to come up with an answer. You can 't "repair" a file which has been manipulated, unless you know something that is unknown to me.
Where are the files which you can see? In which folder? I don't understand what you did. It is clear that some folders were too large, and that something was moved in an unknown location. Was only the Sent mail folder (which became "Stuff "), manipulated?
In which major folder had the mail been, in first place? Which operating system was used (Windows...?). And, there is more that I don't understand.
