Thanks for the heads-up, Antony. Mine was downloaded and installed 15 minutes after your message. So far I'm very pleased. :)

    question about settings

I asked this on the Silly Dog forum but I'm repeating it here on the chance that some might not visit the other forum. I'm interested in hearing a variety of answers.

    1. Cookie Acceptance Policy: what do you believe is the most reasonable setting here?

    2. Forms? How secure is this, given the fact that it asks some very personal information? Do you fear that such information could jeopardize your security?

    1. Reasonable is one thing, and working is another. I let anyone in, but for the session only.
    2. Is something different in NS7.2? I don't save anything which is personal.

A few additional note. I never uninstall a previous version, and never share profiles. Will see what NS7.2 will think about it.
Noticed: my bookmarks were carried over from Moz1.7.2, with no no effort of mine. There are two differently dated GRE folders, both 1.7.2, which will avoid the NS7.1-Moz1.4 conflict. This should tell what NS7.2 is based on.
The "Netscape" toolbar seems identical to the AOL Netscape toolbar for IE, and I will remove it soon. I have not tried my Tabs. As I do that, and have also the Prefbar, there is enough junk that I am running out of space. Forget about the sidebar.
So far I set up four of my 10 e-mail addresses, and except for the first one which never get any Junk, and all its e-mails were marked junk, and the one which gets Junk, and none were marked, I would consider it to be normal.
We will see if the junk which I selected to be deleted automatically will be deleted. None of the selected messages were ever removed automatically.
It may not like the fact that I select fewer than the given 14 days.
I got my tabs going. All eleven of them, for now.

    Why a Pop-Up Blocker

When the Pop-Up Blocker in contained in the Preferences, why put a Pop-Up Blocker in the new Netscape toolbar? What is the point?

    1. I accept all cookies. I do use the optout for Doubleclick. I browse them frequently and remove any that I don't want. I've found that by using the option for the originating website only sometimes stops access to certain sites.

    2. I never use the Forms option. I don't trust its security...

So, are you still very pleased with Netscape 7.2, James? Have you had any problems yet, or do you find anything missing that you thought would be included?

I noticed the form fill in the Netscape Toolbar. As James pointed out it is redundant in every way: 1. I prefer Google to Netscape as a Search engine.
2.Popup blocker was nice in IE, for which the Netscape Toolbar was originally designed by AOL, but useless here.
3.I trust Roboform, and even that is used sparingly, so form fill is useless.
4.Clear history can be done from the Prefbar, where also have Google and more.
    5. e-mail is useless, since I set up the Webmail accounts.
    6. I got the choice of three weather sites.
    7. I don't use AIM.
    8. What's the big deal about Netscape news? I got a tab anyway.
So, the Netscape toolbar is out. Sorry.

    Westside,

A thanks to you for sharing your secret for setting up Webmail in Netscape Mail & Newsgroups Accounts. I used your sneaky tweak and hit cancel as soon as the "Connect to Server" window came up, and sure enough, the account setup was completed. Anyone interested in Westside's workaround, see this thread:
    http://www.windowsbbs.com/showthread.php?t=33412

That issue really does need to be addressed. Have you sent an email to Mark Gregor? I did, and told him about your workaround, of course giving you full credit for coming up with the solution.

    Hi Ramona (and others)

Am I disappointed? Well... I guess a bit. I mentioned this on another site... I've been using Firefox now for a few months and I've grown very fond of several of its features... in particular, search and tabbed browsing. I really dislike NS's version of both, especially the search. I finally just put a link to Google on the pesronal bar and removed the other two NS search buttons. They're useless to me as far as I'm concerned. I've also discussed my dislike of the Mozilla/NS version of tabbed browsing. I find the button in the tool bar via Firefox to be much easier to use.

I've ordered the cd and book (hopefully the book will teach me something) so I won't dismiss it. But I will probably continue to let Firefox be my primary browser and T-bird my primary email client.

I, surely, did, and he replied that it seems to be an authentication problem, and that he would pass this on to the tech(...if and when he/she is tracked down or exists).
